The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass is an annual fundraising event at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. The Memorial Day Weekend is full with classical music performances by the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society. The first night of the event hosts a dinner for specific sponsors of the event.
I don’t know if you've met many people who can say they propped a ladder next to a magnolia tree and cut down about 160 leaves for place cards. I was the crazy girl inside a magnolia tree, fending off spiders, using office scissors to cut down 160 leaves for place cards. But then the crazier part was probably the fact that I then hand-lettered those 160 magnolia leaves the day before the event.
For this event, I designed all the print materials (signage, place cards, programs). I was inspired by garlands, lavender, and springtime colors. I love greenery, and the dinner would be taking place at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill under rows of mulberry trees, so I wanted to stay within that nature feel.
In total, we raised over $200,000 from this event.

When Chef Amber created her menu, she wanted a clean and simple design to match the feel of her food—simple, organic, farm-to-table meals.
I created a simple, easily-editable menu that reflects the modern and straightforward nature of the client. Shaker Village's tagline is “It’s the simple things.” When this menu changes seasonally and shifts to what is available from local farms at such short notice, I wanted to make a menu that wouldn’t stress out Chef Amber or myself, if it needed a quick change.
